It had been the official residence of the royal Wadiyar dynasty and also the seat of the Kingdom of Mysore – a realm that existed until India’s independence from the British (in 1947).The palace is in the centre of Mysore city, and is one of the grandest palaces and popular tourist destinations in all of India.
